Text with 289 plates of which 159 in full colour, uniform blue cloth with gilt title on the spines, and gilt title and gilt vignette of a moth on the front board, speckled edges, dustjackets.One of the most sucessful "pocket" guides on British moths. It went through four editions (this one being revised by H.M. Edelsten and D.S. Fletcher) and, up to this one, 18 reprints. With fine illustrations. Dust jackets with a small (price) clipping, otherwise a fine clean complete set.

Library stamps, else a good set of the original edition.Originally six parts were published. This set lacks the Tortricidae (1922). The first two parts are by Pierce alone, the second and third part (of our set) is by Pierce and Metcalfe, and the last part is by Pierce and Beirne. Some of the original parts (there was a reprint edition in the sixties/seventies) are quite scarce now.
