Vraie mine d'information, cet annuaire téléphonique des temps héroïques s'ouvre sur 3 pages d'instructions sur "l'usage du téléphone" : "avant de décrocher les récepteurs, tourner rapidement deux ou trois fois la manivelle de l'appareil magnétique". Etat très satisfaisant (couv. fort. frottée, bon état intérieur). Faisant suite à l'annuaire des particuliers, on trouve en fin d'ouvrage un annuaire des professionnels (à la mention "Librairie" on découvre un encart de la Librairie Dorbon qui achète des bibliothèques "au maximum de leur valeur").

Bon exemplaire bien relié. Polytechnicien et ingénieur général des PTT, Henri Jannès met alors en garde sur le grand retard que la France avait pris en matière de télécommunication, et insiste sur le défaut de productivité. Il s'intéresse ensuite aux deux autres secteurs en crise : la construction et la construction navale.

First edition of the first technical description of the TAT-1, the first submarine transatlantic telephone cable system. The 2,240-mile cable was laid by the cableship Monarch and ran from Gallanach Bay, near Oban in Argyll, to Clarenville, Canada. The initial capacity was 36 calls at a time at a price per call of $12 for the first three minutes. Since trans-Atlantic service opened in 1927, calls had traveled across the ocean via radio waves. But cables provide much higher signal quality, avoid atmospheric interference and offer greater capacity and security.""The papers that follow describe the design, manufacture and installation of the first transatlantic telephone cable system with all its component parts, including the connection microwave radio-relay system in Nova Scotia.""
