Do Not Use: gebruiksobject of autonoom kunstwerk? Technisch staat bij Dries het kunstambacht centraal, inhoudelijk is het traditionele gebruikszilver zijn uitgangspunt. Met een duidelijke knipoog stelt hij net dat in vraag waarvoor tafelzilver door de eeuwen heen bekend staat: het functionele. Hij gebruikt de functionaliteit om zijn objecten disfunctioneel te maken. Het concept van de functie en haar (on)bruikbaarheid vormen de expressieve motor van zijn zilverwerk waardoor hij op meesterlijke wijze met de spanning tussen het sculpturale object en het gebruiksvoorwerp speelt. Het zijn autonome kunstwerken, waarbij spontane herkenning uitgroeit tot bevreemding bij de toeschouwer (bron: persbericht 2012).
