Reliures en demi basane verte, dos lisses éclaircis ornés de doubles filets dorés, plats de papier marbré comportant de petits frottements, gardes et contreplats de papier à la cuve, deux accrocs sur les coupes, reliures de l'époque. Claire mouillure en angle supérieur droit de certains feuillets du second volume. Voyageur indien, Mirza Abu Taleb Khan naquit en 1752 à Lucknaw dans l'Indoustan et mourut à Calcutta en 1806. Après avoir servi dans l'armée du Nabab d'Aoude, il s'embarqua pour l'Europe le 16 février 1799, avec son ami le capitaine David Richardson. Après une halte de trois mois au Cap, il aborda à Cork en Irlande, le 9 décembre de la même année. Il séjourna plus de deux ans à Londres et vint, en 1802, visiter Paris. Il retourna dans son pays par Constantinople, Mossoul, Bagdad et Bassora (cf. Hoefer). "Cet ouvrage contient des anecdotes piquantes et des observations judicieuses sur les peuples visités par l'auteur" (Chadenat).
