London Thomas McLean 1829 Première édition de la lithographie, publiée en 1829. L'image mesure 28,5 x 39,5 cm. Collée sur une carte brune (35 x 50 cm). Au verso se trouve un montage vierge de la même taille. L'estampe est relativement propre, mais présente une tache d'humidité sur la paroi de la grotte, ainsi que de légères rousseurs. Les bords de la carte sont légèrement entaillés et usés. Publié en tant que n° 6 de "Political sketches" - Publié en 5 volumes. (Arthur Wellesley, 1er duc de Wellington ; George William Finch-Hatton, 10e comte de Winchelsea). La description est la suivante : "Le comte de Winchelsea a éprouvé un tel dégoût pour la politique, en raison de l'adoption de la loi sur l'émancipation des catholiques, qu'il a annoncé son intention de se retirer complètement de la Chambre des lords. First edition lithograph, published 1829. Image is 28.5 x 39.5 cm. Laid onto brown card (35 x 50 cm). To verso is a blank mount of the same size. The print is reasonably clean, but has a damp stain across the cave wall, and light foxing. A little nicking and edgewear to the edges of the card. Issued as #6 of "Political sketches" - Issued in 5 volumes. (Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington; George William Finch-Hatton, 10th Earl of Winchelsea). Description is: "The Earl of Winchelsea conceived so great a disgust with politics, on account of the passing of the Catholic Emancipation Act, that he announced it to be his intention of retiring altogether from the House of Lords. Moore, the lyrical poet, ever ready with his joke, took occasion, on the day after his Lordship's announcement of his resolution, to tell the story of a man in the gallery at Drury Lane, who, having paid his shilling to see George Barnwell, and not choosing to be disturbed from his tragedy-state of mind by the noise which an Easter Monday audience generally makes before the play begins, called out lustily for silence, and having, with much difficulty, obtained a hearing, very gravely acquainted the audience, that if they did not conduct themselves in a more orderly manner, he should be under the necessity of leaving the house. The public laughed with the poet and at the Earl, well knowing that such resolutions are the offspring of temporary emotions, and are never kept." Mclean. Carton rigide en toile rouge, avec écusson armorié en doré sur le premier plat, et titres en doré sur le dos. Le bord supérieur est doré. Les planches sont légèrement mouchetées et la toile du dos est un peu décolorée. Le nom de l'ancien propriétaire figure au début des deux volumes et est daté de 1937. First Edition. A two volume collection of letters compiled by George Wyndham's brother Guy. Red cloth hardback boards, each with armourial crest in gilt to front board, and gilt titles to spine. Top edge gilt. Boards are slightly speckled and spine cloth a little faded. Previous owner's name to front of both volumes, dated 1937. Offsetting to FFEP front of both volumes. Volume I: xii, 549 pp. Volume II: vi, 558 pp. 230 x 160 mm (9 x 6Πinches).

First edition. Hardback in blue cloth. In original dust jacket. Fascinating biography of the famous Welsh Liberal Party politician, David Lloyd George - 1st Earl Lloyd-George of Dwyfor. He was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1916 to 1922. Book and contents are clean. The dust jacket is somewhat rubbed and has been strengthened inside (imperceptibly from outside). 207 pages. Including several b/w photos. 195 x 135 mm (7٠x 5Πinches).

First Edition - Part III in two volumes. These are numbered continuously: 1-114, 115-244 pp. This series of 85 anecdotes of Christian morality was issued in four series (this is the third). Hard paper covers (later than publication date). Paper labels to the spine. Text in Dutch. The covers are a little darkened and have some rubbing to the corners. Some cracking to the paper on the spine - but still holding well. bookseller stamps to the front of each volume, with owner's shelf locators etc: Overall good.
Ella Fitzgerald sings the George and Ira Gershwin Song Book
Paris Polydor Paris / Verve 1982 Une belle collection. Cinq disques 33 tours de Fitzgerald chantant des chansons de Gershwin. Chaque disque est présenté dans une pochette avec une couverture lithographique originale de Bernard Buffet. Les disques sont ensuite placés dans une boîte avec les détails de la chanson au dos, et une répétition de la première lithographie. Pratiquement à l'état neuf. Quelques traces de manipulation. Les disques semblent tous frais et non rayés, mais n'ont pas été testés / joués par nos soins. En 1959, cette collection a été produite par Verve of Paris. Buffet a été chargé de créer des dessins originaux pour les disques, et la musique a été chantée par Ella Fitzgerald, avec un orchestre dirigé par Nelson Riddle. Cet exemplaire est la deuxième édition / réédition Polydor de 1982. Les disques et les lithographies ont été reproduits à partir de la publication originale de Verve. (Un manuel accompagnait l'édition originale - il ne fait pas partie de cette réédition Polydor). Complet et tel qu'il a été publié. NB - bien que publié / créé à Paris - tous les titres de chansons etc. sont en anglais. 320 x 320 mm
A beautiful collection. Five vinyl LP records of Fitzgerald singing Gershwin songs. Each LP is held in a sleeve with an original lithograph cover by Bernard Buffet. The records are then held in a box with song details to the rear, and a repeat of the first lithograph. In practically as new condition. Fractional evidence of handling. The records all appear fresh and unscratched, but have not been tested / played by us. In 1959, this collection was produced by Verve of Paris. Buffet was commissioned to create original designs for the records, and music was sung by Ella Fitzgerald, with an orchestra conducted by Nelson Riddle. This copy is the second edition / Polydor Re-issue from 1982. The records and lithographs have been replicated from the original verve publication. (There was a text book that accompanied the original issue - this was not part of this Polydor re-issue). Complete and as issued. NB - although published / created in Paris - all song titles etc. are in the original English. See photographs on our website for song titles / listing. 320 by 320mm (12œ by 12œ inches). .
