‎Bel exemplaire, dans une solide et belle reliure de l'époque, de ce rarissime ouvrage de numismatique romaine, illustré de 152 planches hors-texte (présentant plus de 1500 monnaies), un titre-frontispice gravé, une vignette de titre gravée répétée et d'une vignette gravée placée en tête de chapitre, deux fois répétée. Gallet , Praefectum Typographiae Amstelaedamensis Huguetanorum, MDCCIII , ( 1703) , in-folio, 31 x 21 cm, (24) nn pp (engraved frintispiece , title page printed in red & black with engraved vignet, dedication with an engraved head) + 152 plates depicting each several coins, printed on recto side only) + 536 pp ; 576 pp (including the title printed in red and black) + (48)nn pp (indices). Complete. Two volumes bound in contemporary full calf, raised gilt spines. Bindings severely damaged with loss of leather and very worn corners, turn in gone, interiors fine with only some marginal paper damage repaired at the last leaves of volume II (no loss of text). Nothwithstanding the binding which does not look good still a crisp and very acceptable copy . On the halftitle ; the holograph ex-libris of Henry William Henfrey , dated 1872 ( in both volumes). On the first paste down is written '' Libreria I. Catto ''. Jean Vaillant (1632 - 1706) was the official numismatist to the French king Louis XIV. Cicognara N° 3034 . '' Questa è una delle principali opere di Vaillant''. From the library of H.W. Henfrey, english numismatist who published a book on the coins of Oliver Cromwell.."‎
