Un volume in-4 (33 x 25,5 cm), en feuilles, sous chemise cartonnée de l'éditeur à dos de percaline noire, plats de papier beige avec titre imprimé, fermeture par lacets de tissu noir, bords du port-folio passés, quelques marques sur les plats. 6 feuillets non chifrés comprenant le titre, la préface de Marthe Oulié, la table des planches, 42 planches libres en noir ou en couleur. L'ouvrage offre un répertoire iconographique remarquable des arts décoratifs des civilisations minoenne et mycénienne. Il présente des reproductions fidèles de céramiques (Vases de style « kamares »), fresques murales et objets d'art. Il s'inscrit dans la lignée des grands recueils de modèles publiés par Calavas, destinés aux artistes et décorateurs de l'entre-deux-guerres. La préface est signée par Marthe Oulié, une figure fascinante de l'époque, première femme à avoir dirigé des fouilles en Crète. Très bon état des planches, bon exemplaire de cette édition originale.
