Geen droge analyse maar de feiten, verhalen en gebeurtenissen die ertoe doen, ge llustreerd met foto's en kaarten. Weinig brieven hebben het aanzien van de wereldgeschiedenis zo veranderd als het kattenbelletje dat Lord Balfour op 2 november 1917 aan Lord Rothschild verstuurde. De Eerste Wereldoorlog liep op zijn laatste benen en Groot-Brittanni moest het mandaat over het Arabisch land zelfs nog officieel verwerven. Maar de toenmalige Britse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken keek vooruit en had een plan voor de kolonisatie van Palestina. Honderd jaar later is 92 procent van alle grond in Isra l 'onvervreemdbaar eigendom van heel het Joodse volk'. En de ene helft van de Palestijnen leeft onder Isra lisch bestuur of bezetting en de andere helft in ballingschap. Hoe is het zover kunnen komen? Vertrekkend van Balfour wandelt Lucas Catherine doorheen de geschiedenis van de kolonisatie van Palestina. Wat wil het zionisme? Is het de laatste vorm van koloniaal denken?
