Voyage. Itinéraire de Paris à Jérusalem et de Jérusalem à Paris
L'itinéraire de voyage de Chateaubriand de Paris à Jérusalem est bien documenté dans son célèbre récit de voyage intitulé "Itinéraire de Paris à Jérusalem" (publié en 1811). parcours résumé de son voyage aller-retour : Paris à Jérusalem (aller) : Paris, France : Chateaubriand a commencé son voyage à Paris. Suisse : Il a traversé la Suisse, s'arrêtant notamment à Genève. Italie : Il est ensuite entré en Italie, passant par Milan et Venise. Grèce : Chateaubriand a visité Athènes, où il a exploré les ruines antiques, notamment l'Acropole. Turquie (Constantinople) : Il est arrivé à Constantinople (l'actuelle Istanbul en Turquie), où il a séjourné un certain temps et a exploré la ville. Terre sainte (Jérusalem) : Son voyage l'a finalement conduit à Jérusalem, où il a visité les lieux saints du christianisme, y compris le Saint-Sépulcre. Jérusalem à Paris (retour) : Le retour de Chateaubriand de Jérusalem à Paris a suivi à peu près le même itinéraire, bien qu'il ait pu faire quelques détours et visites supplémentaires en chemin. Il est retourné en Europe par la voie terrestre, repassant par Constantinople, la Grèce, l'Italie, la Suisse, et enfin la France. Rare et très grand plan de Jérusalem, dressé par l'architecte ingénieur Ermete Pierotti, lithographié par Erhard Schièble et imprimé par Eugène Kæppelin à Paris. De chaque côté ont été disposés 18 plans de lieux saints de Jérusalem, comprenant ses églises, ses mosquées et ses tombeaux. Plusieurs légendes accompagnent le plan, pour la Jérusalem ancienne, avec les 14 stations du chemin de croix, la Jérusalem moderne, les environs de Jérusalem à la date du plan, ainsi que sa population détaillée par communauté (Latins, Grecs orthodoxes et catholiques, Arméniens catholiques, Coptes, Abyssins, Anglicans, Luthériens, Sabatériens, Arabes, Juifs saphardim (Séfarades), askenasim (Ashkénazes), ou karaïtes... Une longue légende est consacrée au Haram-Ech-Chérif selon les musulmans. Il s'agit du mont du Temple, ou temple de Salomon, premier lieu saint du judaïsme, dont l'appellation arabe est Haram-Ech-Chérif ou Noble sanctuaire. Le nord est placé à droite du plan. L'échelle est en mètres, stades et yards. Ancien commandant du Génie sarde, Ermete Pierotti séjourna à Jérusalem de 1854 à 1862, en tant qu'architecte-ingénieur du Pacha turc de Jérusalem. Bel exemplaire. Celui-ci devait présenter au dos, collée sur la toile, une étiquette qui a été arrachée. Laor, 1095.
