‎First edition of one of the highlights on early scientific researches of the glaciers.James Forbes was professor of natural philosophy in the University of Edinburgh. As a scientific investigator he is best known for his researches on heat and on glaciers. Studying the flow of glaciers he developed a theory which involved him in some controversy with Tyndall and others both as to priority and to scientific principle.
