‎After Meckly this was the 11th ascent, after Perret the 15th ascent. It was at that time the fastest climb ever made on the Mont-Blanc. Clissold did 20 hours from Chamounix up to the Summit. It was the first after the deadly ‘Hamel catastrophe’ in 1820 and the first on the subject to be published in the English language (except for a brief relation published by Beaufoy)’ Perret.
