Erste Ausgabe. / First Edition. No place or printer. With engr. title-page by Stockmar after Keülla (without the folding plate). "Very rare. Contains the results of the Duke's research into the aims of Freemasonry" (cf. Wolfstieg). "Rare work, privately printed and distributed only among the friends of the Duke in a few presentation copies. Many pains were taken as to typography and decoration, and the book is adorned by several attractive woodcut ornaments" (cf. Seebaß). The title page, engraved by the Ducal medallist to the court Stockmar (cf. Thieme/B. XXXII, 80), depicts a view of the Belvedere Castle near Weimar. - Somewhat browned throughout, but showing very little staining. First endpaper with hw. name.
