8vo. (IV),206 p. Contemporary blue boards 19,5 cm (Small Danish name in ballpoint on titlepage) (Note: Torkel Baden, or Torkil Baden, 1765-1849, 'studied at Göttingen and acquired an interest in art during his travels in Italy. He was professor at Kiel in Holstein (then part of Denmark) and (in 1804-23) at Copenhagen. His published works (such as his dissertation on Philostratus) were partly inspired by his interest in ancient art. He 'had read nearly all the Greek and Latin Classics', but the result of all this reading is inadequately represented in his edition of the Tragedies of Seneca. His edition of his grandfather's 'Roma Danica' brought him into feud with other scholars. He was more fortunate in his new and improved edition of his father's dictionaries (1815-31)'. (Sandys, 'A history of classical scholarship', 3,316) Torkel Baden has a lemma in Wikipedia. In the German version he is called 'ein Vorreiter der Archäologie in Dänemark'. His grandfather Torkel Baden, 1668-1732, who wrote the first edition of this 'treatise on the affinity of the Danish and Latin languages', and which was published in Copenhagen in 1699, has also a lemma in Wikipedia, unfortunately only in Danish. It copies an article from 'Dansk Biografisk Leksikon')
