"The French naturalist spent 3 years travelling in the Levant, from 1546 to 1549. His journey was inspired by a desire to see the plants and medicinal substances of which he had read. but his travels through Greece, Asia Minor, Egypt and the Holy Land resulted in observations more than merely botanical, in a most remarkable work which discusses the antiquities, custom, and manners of the countries Belon visited, as well as the natural history…Of importance is his description of Cairo after 30 years of Turkish occupation." ‎BE, B.A.I., 2010 Hardback, 235 x 315mm., 272pp., 300 colour illustrations. . FINE CONDITION. ISBN 9789085865650.‎

Asia and Europe form one giant continent, Eurasia, with an endless variation of landscapes, climates, fauna and flora, as well as a wide range of peoples and cultures. Asians and Europeans have been connected with each other for thousands of years. Two cultural factors seem to have linked and influenced the peoples of East and West for thousands of years, Trade and Faith. The book brings together for the first time a selection of 200 art objects from the cultural heritage of 16 Asian countries : Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Specialist in different fields will largely inform the reader with new information. English/ French/ Dutch (NL) edition. New book.‎

‎Cities through Time. Glimpses into Urbanity and Community in Mediaeval to Modern West Asia and Egypt‎

‎, Brepols, 2026 Hardback, Pages: 372, Size:216 x 280 mm, Illustrations:48 b/w, 35 col., 31 tables b/w., Language: English. ISBN 9782503618555.‎

‎Summary The first volume in a series dedicated to cities and urban processes in West Asia and Egypt, this collection of essays offers an exploration of West Asian history and society as seen through the lens of urbanization. Drawing together scholarship from historians, architectural historians, and archaeologists, the essays gathered here examine the development of cities and urban societies in the region from the Sasanian and early Islamic periods up to modern times. The up-to-date and advanced analyses presented within the volume explore the societies that inhabited these urban landscapes and shed light on noteworthy cities of West Asia and its surroundings, including Egypt, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. Through this approach, the authors examine not just the shapes, formations, and characteristics of urban centres, but also the economic and social structures that developed within them and gave shape to their communities.
