Rinaudo in 1867 got a degree in letters in Turin. From 1879 he teached letters in the scuola di Guerra a Torino where he teached history and social sciences. His lessons about Italian Risorgimento held in the Scuola di Guerra between 1906-09 became famous and were collected in these two volumes of success.
