Interessante e rara raccolta di sermoni e rime varie dello scrittore, intellettuale e letterato italiano Gaspare Gozzi (1713-1786) Frontespizio assente, presente solo l'occhietto ma volume del 1830 circa. Nella prima parte i sermoni poetici nei quali l'autore narra aneddoti personali e delinea con ironico anticonformismo diversi aspetti del costume contemporaneo. Tra i sermoni presenti: Ritratto in versi degl'innamorati moderni, Sulla eloquenza sacra, a sua eccellenza Pietro Zeno gli parla di sè medesimo, al Signore Anton Federigo Seghezzi a Venezia Che la natura non basta a fare il poeta, Gli rende conto del passeggiare la sera in piazza, Dimostra in che consista l'amicizia di alcuni, Parla del villeggiare, Contra il gusto d'oggidì in poesia, contro alla mollezza del vivere odierno, Compiange il suo stato ecc... Alla fine rime serie. Volume undecimo ma in sè completo. Opera completa di tutte le pagine. Copertina morbida coeva. In buone condizioni. Bella edizione del 1731 dei Sermoni di Sant'Agostino tradotti da Frate Agostino da Scarperia Firma datata 1773 al contropiatto anteriore. Il nome del traduttore si evince dall'introduzione. Cfr. Opac Sbn: "Nato da Naddo Lotini. Agostiniano formatosi probabilmente presso il S. Spirito di Firenze. Nel 1384 fu priore a Lucca, nell'anno successivo conventuale a Scarperia. Curò il volgarizzamento di Sermones ad fratres falsamente attribuiti a s. Agostino.". (Cfr. Gamba, 7: "furono questi sermoni falsamente attribuiti a S. Agostino, e se ne giudicò volgarizzatore Frate Agostino da Scarperia, il quale cessò di vivere nell'anno 1340.")
