Boucher Fils 51,5 x 28 et 52,5 x 27,5 Paris Deux planches comprenant quatre suites d'arabesques de François Boucher le Jeune (1736-1782), gravées à l'eau-forte, accolées deux à deux, 10,7 x 43 pour chaque suite, numérotées de 3 à 6, signature "Boucher F." en bas au dessus du trait des suites 4 et 6. Ces suites, dépliantes, sont extraites du Vème cahier d'arabesques de l'artiste. D. Guilmard "Les maîtres ornemanistes" p. 232. François Boucher le Jeune est le fils du peintre Boucher. Les modèles d'arabesques sont à la mode dans les années 1770. Les compositions, faites de femmes à l'antique, de vases, de faunes et de satyres, de guirlandes de fleurs, étaient destinées à être peintes, en miroir, sur des panneaux de boiseries, parfois associés à des ornements en stucs. Première édition. Exemplaire complet de ses deux parties. Ce charmant ouvrage est illustré de 78 planches gravées par Gaitte sur les dessins de l'auteur. Ces "arabesques" sont des emblèmes des divinités de l'Antiquité. Elles ont été imprimées en couleurs. On trouve plus souvent des exemplaires en noir et blanc. (A noter que le titre est alors différent. Le titre du premier volume des exemplaires en couleurs portent "en 54 gravées en couleurs d'après les dessins coloriés de Madame de Genlis", ceux en noir, "en 54 gravées d'après les dessins coloriés..."). Madame de Genlis (1746 - 1830) a été la gouvernante du futur roi Louis-Philippe et a publié de nombreux ouvrages pour la jeunesse. Très bel exemplaire, luxueusement relié par François Bozérian, dit le jeune, l'un des relieurs les plus fameux du XIXe siècle, qui exerça de 1801 à 1818. /// 2 volumes in-8 de (4), XXX, 166 (notée 266) pp., 54 planches / (4), IV, 228, (2) pp., 24 planches.
