‎Edizione del 1930 circa del famoso romanzo storico scritto da Massimo D'Azeglio (1798-1866). Il racconto celebra il coraggio italiano contro gli invasori stranieri. Lo sfondo è la disfida di Barletta, avvenuta nel 1503 durante la guerra tra francesi e spagnoli per il possesso del napoletano. Alcuni soldati francesi insultarono degli italiani al servizio degli spagnoli fino a giungere ad una sfida tra 13 campioni scelti da ognuno dei due gruppi che vide l'Italia come vincitrice. Si intreccia la storia d'amore tra Ettore Fieramosca e Ginevra, moglie di un campione dei francesi. L'opera venne pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1833. In discrete condizioni. Copertina morbida con brossura editoriale applicata in discrete condizioni generali con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura quasi assente. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con fioriture. In 8. cm 19x12,5. Pp. 254Edition of 1930's of the famous historical novel written by Massimo D'Azeglio (1798-1866). The background is the challenge of Barletta, happened in 1503 during the war between franch and spanish army to conquer Neapolitan area. Some french soldiers insulted some italians who were at servisce of spanish. It happened a challenge between 13 chosen champions of the two groups. Italy won. In the background the history of Ettore Fieramosca and Ginevra, wife of a french champion. The work was published for the first time in 1833. In fair conditions. Soft cover with editorial cover applied in fair general conditions lightly worn in the extremities. Binding is almost missing. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxingsIn 8. cm 19x12,5. Le texte est en italien.Massimo Taparelli d'Azeglio, de la famille des marquis d'Azeglio (Turin, 1798 - Milan, 1866) est l'un des théoriciens et acteurs du Risorgimento. Peintre, romancier et futur homme politique devenu premier ministre, il gagna dans les années 1830, une place d'honneur dans la peinture romantique."Ce roman patriotique, considéré comme le chef-d'oeuvre littéraire de dAzeglio, pour lequel il sest évidemment inspiré de la toile homonyme, 'La disfida di Barletta' connut un grand succès en Italie et le même succès à Paris où il fut édité lors de séjour de l'auteur dans la capitale française (...) DAzeglio écrit comme il peint: il traite des thèmes pris dans le grand passé national, auréolés dune forte dignité morale" (cf.
