Torti divenne famoso per essere stato additato di eresia da Monaldo Leopardi grazie alla sua opera La corrispondenza di Monteverde, che gli valse la messa all'Indice. Insieme all'opera un libretto di sette pagine ottocentesco manoscritto con alcuni appunti di letteratura.
