Splendido volume illustrato del 1690 sull'Arco di Augusto a Roma di Pietro Giovanni Bellori (1613-1696) commissario per le antichità di Roma sotto Papa Clemente X, antiquario e bibliotecario di Cristina di Svezia. Bellori fu uno dei biografi più importanti degli artisti del barocco italiano. Antiporta finemente illustrata con dedica al Cardinale Pietro Ottoboni (pro nipote di Papa Alessandro VIII). All'interno 48 finissime incisioni su 46 tavole numerose delle quali a doppia pagina mostrano dettagli degli Archi di Augusto. "Può quest'opera ritenersi per la più bella in questo genere, e classica specialmente per la magnificenza ed eleganza delle stampe, che sono il capo d'opera di Pietro S. Bartoli..." (Cfr. Cicognara (3608). In ottime condizioni. Coperta in piena pelle settecentesca con titolo e ricche decorazioni in oro al dorso e piatti in buone condizioni generali con lievi usure marginali. Piccola rottura alla cerniera della cuffia inferiore. Legatura in buone condizioni. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con fioriture. Bellori was one of the most important biographer of artists of italian barocco. Frontspice finely engraved with dedication to the Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni (grand nephew of the Pope Alessandro VIII). Inside there are 48 fvery fine engravings on 46 plates many of them in double page showing detains of August Arch.
