‎Edizione del 1759 di questa celebre opera di farmacia del chimico e medico francese Nicolas Lemery (1645-1715). Laureatosi in chimica lavorò come apprendista prima nella farmacia dello zio poi in quella di Cristopher Glaser farmacista alla corte di Luigi XIV e di Bernardin Martin che gli permise di introdursi nei circoli intellettuali di Parigi. Aprì in seguito una sua farmacia. Seguace delle teorie di cartesio e Pierre Gassendi, abbandonò quelle di Paracelso e Jean Baptiste Van Helmont. Abile oratore catturava l'attenzione di ogni tipo di persone favorendo così la diffusione delle sue teorie. L'opera, pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1698 come seguito della sua "Pharmacopee universelle" descrive centinaia di specie vegetali e il loro utilizzo in ambito farmaceutico. Ritratto dell'autore in antiporta e alla fine del volume 25 tavole fuori testo che mostrano numerose specie vegetali e animali. Timbro di ceralacca alla fine della prefazione. Antiche note manoscritte datate 1793 e 1948. In discrete condizioni. He got a degree in chemistry and worked as a pupil before in the pahrmacy of his auntthan in that of Cristopher Glaser pharmaceutical in the court of Luigi XIV and Bernardin Martin who permitted him to introduce int he intellectual circles of Paris. He opened his activity. He was follower of the theories of Cartesio and Pierre Gassendi, leaving them of Paracelso and Jean Baptiste Van Helmont. He was a skilful orator and managed to capture the attention of different kind of people favoring the diffusion of his theories. The work, published for the first time in 1698 a a following of his "Pharmacopee universelle" describes hundreds of vegetal species and their usage of pharmaceutical field.
