In 16. Dim. 17x11x6,5 cm. Pp. XV+344+VIII+480. Edizione del 1840 di questo raro volume di filosofia del celebre economista e storiografo Melchiorre Gioja (Piacenza 1767 - Milano 1829). Gioja prese parte attivamente al movimento risorgimentale italiano. L'opera è una moderna riscrittura dei trattati delle buone maniere il cui esempio più celebre è quello di Della Casa. Scritto nel 1802 a differenza di quest'ultimo Gioia non segue l'obiettivo della bellezza e dell'armonia estetica ma dell'utilità sociale. Per lui il galateo o "pulitezza" nei modi e nelle azioni ha il fine di rendere contenti se stessi e conquistare la stima del prossimo. Alla fine appendice con cenni sulla pirateria libraria. Opera completa di tutte le pagine. In discrete condizioni. In barbe. Copertina in pergamena con titolo al dorso in buone condizioni generali con usure ai margini e dorso. Segni di tarlo e rottura alle cerniere. Legatura in buone condizioni ma rottura alla prima carta bianca. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con rare fioriture. Le pagine dalla 96 alla 112 sono legate male. Edition of 1840 of this scarce volume of phylosophy of the famous economist and history writer Melchiorre Gioja (Piacenza 1767 - Milano 1829). Gioja took active part to the italian movement of risorgimento. The work is a modern rewriting of treaties of good manners of which the most famous is that of Della Casa. Written in 1802 Gioia differently by Della Casa did not follow estethic harmony and beauty but social utility. The aim Gioia perceives in good manners is to be happy of itselfand obtaining others estimation. At the end appendix with notes about book piracy. Work complete of all pages. In fair conditions. Uncut copy. Half parchment cover with title in the spine in good general conditions slightly worn in the edges and spine. Wormings and cracks in the spine. Binding in good conditions but crack in the first endpage. Inside pages are in good conditions with occasional foxings. Pages from 96 until 112 are badly bound.
