Charles Churchill (1732–1764) était un poète et critique acerbe anglais. Il suit son père comme pasteur, vit un mariage malheureux et mène une vie de débauche. Il publie des critiques dans la revue de Smolett. Admirateur de Dryden, il devint avec Wilkes un fervent défenseur de la liberté de la presse et en explora les frontières. Provenance : de la bibliothèque de Jonathan Chetwood, Esq., parlementaire, avec son ex-libris gravé et un autre manuscrit sur le titre, et de celle de Remy G. Saisselin, avec son ex-libris.
