Jenae, T. Oehrlingium, 1689. Book in Latin and German. Small In-4. Pp. [8] 72, later XIX c. rubbed boards, joints worn, linen back and modern endpapers. Gothic lettering, wide margins, some light browning. Title in black. Otherwise very clean without any anotations or marks. Complete. 1st and only one edition of this extremely rare work on demonology by Johann Henric Pott, "who discovered witches in the county of Lancaster". This is a very rare volum dedicated to sexual cooperation between witches and demons. The author shares the same opinion as the Johann Sprenger and Martin Del Rio in the 16th century. For them, all demons are capable of reproducing, and they cites "amusing examples," since incubi have animal forms, and there are women who, as a consequence of their abominable relations with demons, have given birth to all sorts of animals (cat, dog, etc.) or different type of monsters. Bibliography: Cornell, Witchcraft Collection, p. 515, Coumont (P63.1), Bibliotheca magica et pneumatica, VII. 30, USTC No.2565741 and USTC No. 2591565. Provenance: From the Beltrame Collection (?).
