Die Boehmflote wurde in Munchen entwickelt, in Paris aber zu einem Musikinstrument besonderer Qualitat kultiviert. Die Absicht der Verfasser ist es, Durchsetzung, Gestaltung und Wirkung der Flotenkonstruktion von Theobald Boehm (1794-1881) im ersten Jahrhundert ihrer Existenz in Frankreich historisch darzustellen sowie durch Wiedergabe und Beschreibung ausgewahlter Dokumente und Instrumente anschaulich zu belegen. 1832 stellt das Geburtsjahr der Boehmflote dar, die bald danach bei herausragenden franzosischen Flotisten sowie bei voranstehenden Pariser Instrumentenbauern Aufnahme fand. 1932 bedeutet das Ende des Professorats von Gaubert am Pariser Conservatoire, gleichzeitig Endpunkt dessen, was wir als ?Klassische Franzosische Flotenschule? bezeichnen
