Paris, Gaume Frères, 1857, in-8°, xii + colored folding map + 477 pp, original printed paper wrapper, wrapper with some use and some tiny tears, pages unopened , a fine uncut copy of the original 1857 edition. The large folding 1857 map, drawn after official topographical documents and sketches by J. Cordova, must be one of the first maps of Texas to be published. The observations of Indian life are very impressive indeed. Text in French.
