‎Leodii [Liège], Typis Everardi Kints 1741 [18] + 243 + [13] pp., with an engraving representing the armorial of the reigning Bishop-Prince Georges-Louis de Berghes, First and only edition, 21x16cm., right half side of original title page is torn off and replaced by a facsimile, modern brown full-leather binding, decorated endpapers, some vague old stains in text (always well readable), text in Latin, ["The Pharmacopoea of Liège, edited by four doctors and two apothecaries whose names are mentioned in the preface, was published in 1741 and became the obligatory book of reference not only for the town of Liège but also for the whole regions of Liège and Looz. Typically after the introduction follows the list of twenty nine doctors, thirty-one apothecaries and twenty seven surgeons who formed the Collegium Medicum. The pharmacopoea is divided into three parts. In the first section is presented the list of medications in which one finds not only the traditional medications of that period from the three natural 'elements' but also substances which at that time would be considered as new substances such as quinine, ipecacuanta, gayac, tobacco and coffee. The second section is made up of the galenical compositions to be used, including amongst others several local specialities: Tinctura amara Leodiensis, Baume du Vicomte de Looz, Pillules de Spa. The third section consists of chemical formula where there appears to be particular interest in the use of iron compounds. After the Pharmacopoea itself follows a list of taxes or prices for medicaments where the prices are expressed in 'florins' and in 'sols', and an index. The Liège Pharmacopoea is a historically important document which has now become extremely rare" (< L.J. Vandewiele, in his introduction of the 1975-facsimile-edition)], B119431‎
