" Paris, Goupil & Cie, s.d. (1870), in-8° photography album, 143 x 115 mm, containing 15 album leaves (each 2 mm thick) with 30 original photographs, mounted back to back, on albumine paper; some made by Goupil (Robert Bingham ?) 2 by Dusacq (nrs. 4 and 30), one by Chardon Jeune (nr.5) .They represent paintings by Ary Scheffer. The first photograph is a photograph of a selfportrait by the artist. The photographs measuring about 80 x 50 mm are mounted on board. Many photographs have a rounded upper margin. The verso of the board is printed with the photographers trade mark (Goupil, Dusacq, Chardon...). We have not been able to view the backs of all photographs as this would damage the way they are mounted in the album. Nicely preserved album bound in full red morocco with gilt title and elaborate blindtooling on front cover, with two gilt clasps, all edges gilt. Apart from some minor foxing on some pages (not on the photographs) a finely preserved album.."
