Leather of the spine worn, but binding still technically sound and with a fine interior. Lady Lucy Herbert (1668 - 1744) was admitted to the nunnery at Bruges in 1693; in 1708 she became prioress. She was the 4th daughter of William 1st Marquess and Duke of Powis. He went in exile with his family in 1693 because he had supported the deposed catholic king James II. There exist a beautiful portrait of Lucy painted by François de Troy just before she left England. The first edition of this title is from 1722. There exists also an edition of 1791, without printing place (University of York)."
