" Westmalle, Typis Ordinis Cisterciensis. MCMLVI (1956), in-quartofolio, (32,5 x 23 cm), 39 pp. Entirely printed in red & black, with some printed music scores (staves printed in red). Bound in full black leather; the only decoration being a large blindstamped cross on the front cover. Good copy.. This is one of the ultimate publications of the Westmalle Abbey printing press (now famous for its Triple beer). The Cistercians Monastic Order of the Strict Observation (Trappists) was suppressed , like most other monastic orders after the French Revolution.(1791). Upon the Bourbon restauration in the 19th c. the Westmalle Abbey (Flanders, Belgium) acquired the publishing rights for the order's liturgical books. They started with a printing press and typographical equipment donated by the last owners of the Plantin-Moretus Press in Antwerp ; this a few years before the family sold the complete printing house to city of Antwerp, where it became a museum.."
