Roma, Ex typographia Alfonsi Ciacconi, Apud Bartholomaeum Zannettum, 1607. In-4°, 23 cm, (30) nn pp + 291 pp + (9)nn pp (last three blank) (complete). Bound in contemporary full calf, with two working brass clasps, both covers with blind tooled fillet and a gilt supra libro in the centre ( a putti , raising his left arm, holding a globe topped with a cross in his right arm). The image is only 16 mm high. Binding well preserved but the spine is rather clumsily rebacked, with loss ot the original leather.Interior generally good, except for some pages which are thumbed in the lower margin (especially so pp.262-275 (the ''Officium Sepulturae Fratum''), as usual some scattered stains, and an old small waterstain at the inner margin of the last pages. The book is entirely printed in red & black. It contains many pages with music: the staves are printed in red, the notes in large black dots (9mm²). Some pages, including the last blank page, contain contemporary manuscript notes in ink. On pp. 278 - 279 manuscript additions were made on the pre-printed red music staves. Good copy of a rare music book for the use by the Dominican Order. USTC lists only one copy (Rome, Library of the Conservatorio S. Cecilia) USTC item 4032051. Our copy bears no reference to a provenance. It was most probably used in the Southern Netherlands.
