In de wereld van de Belgische boekbindkunst neemt Berthe van Regemorter (1879-1964) een niet alledaagse plaats in. Gevormd in Brussel en Londen, werd zij de eerste docent boekbandversiering aan de pas opgerichte school van Ter Kameren. De belangwekkende erfenis die zij heeft nagelaten heeft Elly Cockx-Indestege, oud-conservator Kostbare Werken van de<br> Koninklijke Bibliotheek van Belgie, de sleutels in handen gegeven om leven en werk van deze kunstboekbindster en latere onderzoekster te bestuderen en te inventariseren. Archiefdocumenten en gedrukte bronnen, banden, de correspondentie met de boekhistoricus Prosper Verheyden, maar vooral het omvangrijke archief van tekeningen, ontwerpen en wrijfsels van de artieste bewaard in de Bibliotheca Wittockiana, liggen aan de basis van deze monografie. Dans le monde de la reliure de creation en Belgique, Berthe van Regemorter (1879-1964) n?occupe pas une place ordinaire. Formee a Bruxelles et a Londres elle devint le premier professeur de reliure-dorure a l?Ecole de La Cambre. Ces sources rassemblees minutieusement au cours des annees par Elly Cockx-Indestege, conservateur honoraire de la Reserve Precieuse a la Bibliotheque Royale de Belgique, lui ont donne les cles pour decouvrir et comprendre la vie du relieur et du chercheur. Reliures, dessins, projets et frottis, ainsi que la correspondance avec l'historien Prosper Verheyden, ont permis a Elly Cockx-Indestege d'entreprendre la redaction d'une monographie portant sur la vie de l'artiste, son travail connu et inconnu a ce jour.
