‎"16. Bologna, Nella tipographia delle Belle Arti, 1840, in-8°, 78 pp + (2)nn pp. Bound in full brown leather, both covers decorated with manifold fillets and floral corner ornaments. On the centre of the front cover '' A sua Majestà Luigi Filippo Re dei Francesi ''. On the centre of the back cover ; the title. First and last leaves with some foxing but a nice copy with a finely preserved binding. Presentation copy by the author to king Louis-Philippe of France. (we acquired this copy in Paris so we presume it once belonged to the king's library). The author was a staunch supporter of the death penalty. This publication contains at the end several letters of thanks for a previous publication of the author ( Trattato dei Delitti e delle Pene) in which he also pleaded in favour of the death penalty. The last letter however, by Chateaubriand, clearly expresses opposition to the death penalty.."‎
