"2. Bruxelles, 22 juillet 1784, manuscript letter on paper, written in ink, in-folio, (4) pp (3 blank) , written in French, very neat handwriting, signed by Barbiano de Belgiojoso. Severe letter by Belgiojoso to Charles Proli demanding an explanation for the fact that 4 ships coming from China appeared in the road-stead of Ostend, in breech of the imperial patent. (see ''Houtman-Desmeth '', Charles Proli, Antwerps zakenman en bankier, (Academie, 1983), pp. 153). Provenance; from the archives of Charles de Proli ; photostat of a typed letter from 23 May 1945 refers to Theophile Smekens who was still occupied with Proli's bancruptcy in the late 19th c.
