A few sparse foxing smots but a fine set. On the reconstruction of the war-devastated countryside in Flanders (battlefield WW I ). The author first gives a detailed study of the history and the typical features of the Flemish farmhouse and then develops a guideline for the construction of new farmhouses. From this starting point he obviously advocates a conservative approach to reconstruction. Apart from the notes on reconstruction, the historical analysis is important in itself.
