Amsterdam, Coenraad Weddepohl, 1845, in-folio, 34 x 25,5 cm, (4)nn pp + 10 pp + 9 lithographic plates ( 1 portrait and 8 stage designs ) each plate accompanied with a poem printed on the opposite page within a red typographical border. All plates with a serpent guard leaf. Original publisher's brown cloth with as a supra-libro on both sides a large gilt lyre . Fine copy notwithstanding a slightly faded cloth. Very fine interior. First and only edition of this important source for the history of Dutch stage design, published as a memorial to the costume and stage designer François Joseph Pfeiffer. Text in Dutch. Amsterdam C. Weddepohl 1845 Première édition. Reliure originale en toile marron, avec une lyre décorative dorée à l'orfin sur les plats avant et arrière. Toutes les tranches sont dorées. Chacune des neuf planches en couleurs est protégée par un papier de soie. Les coins des plats sont frottés et ceux-ci présentent une légère décoloration due au soleil. La charnière est légèrement affaiblie mais tient bon. (Elle a été renforcée à l'aide de ruban adhésif d'archivage à l'intérieur de la charnière arrière). Texte en néerlandais. 350 x 270 mm (13Ÿ x 10Ÿ pouces). Publication rare sur les décors de théâtre de l'artiste néerlandais François-Joseph Pfeiffer Jr. (Liège 1778-1835). Illustrée de 9 planches lithographiques (dont un portrait) avec des intercalaires en papier de soie. Accompagnée d'un texte imprimé à l'intérieur de bordures ornementales rouges. Contient une biographie de Gerit van Ernst Koning (1794-1853) et des descriptions en vers de J. van Lennep (1802-1868). Il comprend également une courte liste des décors de théâtre créés par Pfeiffer.
First edition. Original hardback brown cloth covered boards, with a decorative gilt-blocked lyre to both front and back boards. All edges gilt. Each of the nine colour plates with its own tissue guard. Corners of boards rubbed and slight sun fading to boards. Hinge slightly weak but holding. (This has been reinforced with archival tape to the inside rear hinge). Text in Dutch. 350 x 270 mm (13Ÿ x 10Ÿ inches). Rare publication of theater decorations by the Dutch artist François-Joseph PfeifferJr. (Liège 1778-1835). Illustrated with 9 lithograph plates (including portrait) with facing tissue guards. With accompanying letter-press text within red ornamental borders. Contains a biography by Gerit van Ernst Koning (1794-1853), and verse descriptions by J. van Lennep (1802-1868). It also includes a short list of theater scenes created by Pfeiffer.
