Gent, Photographische Abteilung der Kommandantur Gent, Druck der Graphischen Kunstanstalt Peter Luhn in Barmen, 1916, small in-4°, 24 x 20 cm, stapled, orig. stiff wrapper. XXX pp + 249 pp with 484 photo illustrations. High-quality photo reproductions printed on coated paper. Fine copy. Rich iconography of the Flemish town of Gent ( Ghendt ) during the First World War. Gent was the capital of the so-called '' Etappen Gebiet '' and served as a logistic centre for the 4th German Army stationed at the Yser. With also pictures of Bruges, Ostend, Zeebruges , Thielt, Afsnee, Lokeren...The quality of the pictures and of the book in general is outstanding and was certainly intended to show that the war, now entering its third year, had not yet dented German supremacy in matters of art , publishing or whatever.
