‎ Cologne (Köln), Chez les Héritiers de Corneille d'Egmond, 1699, in-8°, 603 + (7) pp, followed by Documenta controversiam missionariorum apostolicorum imperii Sinici de cultu Philosophi & Progenitorum Defunctorum spectantia ac apologiam dominicanorum Missionis Sinicae ministrum..., 196 + (5) pp, leather, gilt and raised spine, two small 19th century ex-library stamps. Upper joint weak but holding, a small worm gallery in the outer margin of a few leaves, still a good acceptable copy. The Jesuits had founded their teachings in China on Confucianism and the Dominicans wanted to root this out... The author, 1639 - 1724, entered the Dominican Order at Rouen in 1655, and became a well-known historian and theologian. For a time he was accused of gallicanism and his history put on the Index, but later he became provincial of the Dominican province of France.‎
