10. Bruxelles, 1919, private edition, printed paper portfolio (spine torn, front discoloured and slightly soiled). Contains 8 (of 12) original engravings, signed in pencil by the artist. Paper size 49 x 34 cm, size of engraving ca. 34 x 24 cm. The engravings bear a title and a date in the plate. The idea of the artist was to illustrate the devastations brought over Belgium during the First World War. As he had already made before the war 6 engravings depicting typical Belgian town views, he revisited these places during 1915 and 1916 and made the same views, this time showing the results of war devastation. Louvain, Dixmude , Ypres , Dinant , Namur and Haecht are represented here. Missing are both the pre-war and war views of Ypres and Namur (4 plates).
