(Binding with some minor dustsoiling, but stil a fine copy.). Text in French. One of the better publications of Willem Elsschot, acting as editor-publisher of expensive and eye-catching occasional editions.

" Anvers ( Antwerpen ) , La Propagande Commerciale, 8, Courte rue des Claires, s.d. ( 1932 ), in-folio, 36,5 x 27 cm, 425 pp + 34 pp ( advertenties ). Gebonden in blauw linnen uitgeversband met goudopdruk op de rug en het voorste plat. (naar een ontwerp van Marfurt ). Originele stijve omslag en rug méé ingebonden .Ex-biliotheek exemplaar. Met een kleine ronde blindstempel in de rechter bovenhoek van het titelblad; de linnen uitgeversband werd zorgvuldig geplastificeerd. Mooi bewaard boek. De uitgeverij ''La Propagande Commerciale'' werd in 1920 opgericht door L. Leclercq en Alfons De Ridder ( alias Willem Elsschot). Dit herinnerings- album aan de Antwerpse Wereldtentoonstelling van 1930 behoort tot de drie belangrijkste publicaties van de uitgeverij. (De andere twee zijn: Le Livre d'Or de l'Indépendance de la Belgique en het boek over kardinaal Mercier.). Deze Franstalige editie telt 60 pp. méér dan de Nederlandstalige editie en bevat bovendien een extra katern van 34 pp met publiciteit. (waaronder bijv. drie grote Franse warenhuizen - Au Bon Marché de Paris ; Grands Magasins du Louvre; Au Printemps). Over de perikelen bij het onstaan van deze publicatie : zie Vic van de Reijt - Elsschot leven en werken... pp. 189 e.a. . Ook Jan van Hattem ; Willem Elsschot Mythes bij het leven . pp. 151 e.a.."

Antwerpen, 1930, large photo album, 60 x 47 cm, original decorated red cloth with printed title page and 25 album leaves with printed captions, bilingual French and Dutch, on both sides, separated by silky paper. The covers of album with traces of use, part of spine missing, part of the silk cord of the binding loose title page with some minor marginal soiling, some of the photographs show slight marginal deterioration but on the whole still a fine interesting album. It contains 100 original photographs, size 20 x 26 cm. Most of the the photographs were made by Climan-Ruyssers, commissioned by the architect Smolderen. Other photographers include Borrenbergen , Kennis , van Rossem. Interesting collection of original photographs united by the head architect of the Antwerp World Exhibition J.Smolderen,and published in a small number. The pictures cover all aspects of the fair with an emphasis on the architecture and art decoration.
