Very nice copy of the first edition. First attempt at comparative theology, one of the most original works to come out of the Enlightenment. (this rare first edition not in Cioranescu) . Classical essay on the philosophy of history, containing a vision which predicts the final union of all religions by the recognition of the common truth underlying them all. (Enc.Britt. 11th ed.).
