Konstantin Pavlovich Rotov (1902-1959) is a Soviet graphic artist, cartoonist, and illustrator of books including: The Adventures of Captain Vrungel, Old Man xottabych, Uncle Step, Three Little Girls, Golden Calf, and Crocodile magazine. In 1940 he was sentenced to eight years of corrective labor camps on false charges of collaborating with German intelligence along with Mikheil Xrapkovsky. In 1954 he was fully rehabilitated. Lazar Josifovich Lagin (1903-1979) is a Russian Soviet writer and poet, leading representative of Soviet satirical, fiction and childrens literature, author of the fairy tale Old Man xottabych.
