Catherine II: The Manifesto of E.I. V. Catherine II (with this proclamation to all Our Loyal Subjects): On the Beginning of War with the Ottoman Porta on November 18 1768. The reason for the outbreak of war was the arrest of the Russian ambassador to Turkey Alexey Oreskov in response to an attack by the Haidamaks on the territory of the Crimean Khan. Oreskov was imprisoned in the Seven Tower Castle which meant a declaration of war according to Ottoman custom. On October 29 the Turkish army was called in to march on Russia. In response Catherine II declared war on Turkey with a manifesto of November 18 1768. We have thousands of titles and often several copies of each title may be available.
