Weymouth N.P. 1983
Reference : 5832
A small water colour, showing a statue celebrating the 50th year of the reign of George III. This statue, in Weymouth, was erected in 1810 by the grateful inhabitants of the town! Nicely and subtly coloured, this is a simple architectural piece. Water colour is 9cm x 8cm. Under passe partout (with a touch of staining to this) and in a gilt wooden frame. The frame is 17cm x 15cm. There is a blog on the Dorchester Civic Society site, stating that the statue of the King held the staff in his hand in a postcard from 1955. By 1986 this was missing. Here - in 1983 it was still present. An attractive item.
