Ce qui est intéressant avec cet exemplaire, c'est que le portrait de John Drinkwater porte sa signature et les mots « Seal Chart September 1921 » (Carte des phoques, septembre 1921). Bel exemplaire propre de ce livre. Légère décoloration et frottement au niveau du dos et des plats. Intérieur propre, avec seulement quelques légères taches de rousseur. À l'intérieur du plat se trouve l'ex-libris de « Chart Lodge ». Chart Lodge fait référence à une propriété située à Seal Chart, près de Sevenoaks dans le Kent, d'où l'annotation de Drinkwater. Reproductions attrayantes de portraits et de croquis de Rothnstein tout au long du livre. Les sujets abordés comprennent Max Beerhbohm, Arnold Bennett, Cobden-Sanderson, Joseph Contrad, John Drinkwater, Edward Elgar, James Frazer, André Gide, Thomas Hardy, John Masefield, George Russell, George Bernard Shaw et H.G. Wells. Non paginé, mais environ 102 pages. 26 cm x 16 cm. John Drinkwater (1882-1937) était un poète et dramaturge anglais de renom. ‎First edition. One of two thousand un-numbered copies. Nice clean copy. What is interesting with this copy is that the portrait of John Drinkwater bears his signature and the words "Seal Chart September 1921." A nice clean copy of this book. A little darkening and rubbing to the spine and boards. Internally clean, with a few light foxing spots only. To the inside board is the bookplate for "Chart Lodge." Chart Lodge refers to a property located in Seal Chart, near Sevenoaks in Kent, hence Drinkwater's annotation. Attractive reproductions of portraits and sketches by Rothnstein throughout. Subjects include Max Beerhbohm, Arnold Bennett, Cobden-Sanderson, Joseph Contrad, John Drinkwater, Edward Elgar, James Frazer, André Gide, Thomas Hardy, John Masefield, George Russell, George Bernard Shaw and H.G. Wells. Unpaginated but circa 102 pages. 26cm x 16cm. John Drinkwater (18821937) was a prominent English poet and playwright. He was known as one of the Dymock poets before World War I and contributed poetry to Edward Marsh's Georgian Poetry anthologies. .‎
