‎Paris Maison Martinet 1856 Première édition. Recueil cartonné de feuilles lithographiques, avec un titre gravé et 16 feuilles, chacune contenant un certain nombre de caricatures. Couverture cartonnée, dos en lin rouge et plats marbrés. Un feuillet jaune (identique au titre) est collé sur le premier plat. Les couvertures sont légèrement bosselées et assombries, mais elles sont saines. La page de titre gravée a été restaurée là où une zone de perte (n'affectant pas les illustrations) a été réparée par archivage. Les pages sont dans l'ensemble en bon état, avec quelques rousseurs / marques sur les feuilles, mais elles sont saines. Le dernier feuillet présente une petite zone de perte sur le bord inférieur. La plupart des autres exemplaires que nous avons vus comportent 15 feuilles de lithographies - le nôtre en comporte de 1 à 16. 33cm x 25.5cm. Gilbert Randon (1811-1884) était un lithographe et caricaturiste français, né à Lyon. Il commença sa carrière après avoir servi dans la cavalerie, puis travailla comme lithographe, illustrateur et caricaturiste. Randon était un cousin du célèbre photographe Nadar, qui l'a invité à Paris en 1851 pour collaborer à des publications satiriques bien connues comme le "Journal pour rire" et le "Journal amusant". Tout au long de sa carrière, Randon est connu pour ses représentations humoristiques, notamment de l'armée française sous le Second Empire.‎

‎First edition. A hardback collection of lithographic sheets, with and engraved title and 16 sheets, each containing a number of caricatures. Harback with red linen spine and marbled boards. Yellow sheet (identical to title) is pasted onto the front board. There covers are slightly bumped and darkened, but sound. The engraved title page has been restored where an area of loss (not affecting illustrations) has been archivally repaired. The pages are overall in good condition, with some foxing / marking to the sheets, but sound. The final sheet has a small area of loss to the bottom edge. Most other copies we have seen reference have 15 sheets of lithographs - ours has 1-16. 33cm x 25.5cm. Gilbert Randon (1811-1884) was a French lithographer and caricaturist, born in Lyon. He began his career after serving in the cavalry, moving on to work as a lithographer, illustrator, and caricaturist. Randon was a cousin of the renowned photographer Nadar, who invited him to Paris in 1851 to contribute to well-known satirical publications like "Journal pour rire" and "Journal amusant." Throughout his career, Randon was known for his humorous depictions, particularly of the French army under the Second Empire. .‎
