‎HOGARTH, William.‎
‎Industry and Idleness. Plate 4. The Industrious 'Prentice. A Favourite and Entrusted by his Master.‎

‎London: 1840 ‎

Reference : 1662

‎A reprint of this work by Hogarth. This engraving by S. Davenport. Goodchild's industry and piety are paying off. He's now no longer working a loom, but rather keeping his master's business: He holds the "Day Book", keys to the house and a pouch of money. A mid Victorian print. Beautiful colouring. Off white mounting board with lines around. Now in protective cellophane cover. Overall, this print is in lovely clean condition. A touch of darkening only. The only flaw is a little white discolouring to the top edge. Engraving 6" x 71/4" Mount 11" x 121/2"‎
