This first English edition is quite rare. Engraved plate with two views: A)the Borromeo Islands and B) the Mont-Blanc, both engraved by W. Read. Description of a tour over the Alps and through northern Italy in a series of letters to a friend starting from Geneva through Dijon, Followed by Sallanches, Bonneville, Cluses. He guides us through stunning Chamonix, placed in that narrow Valley, fifteen miles long and half a mile wide, surrounded by pine forests, steep mountains and white glaciers. Montémont marvels at the breathtaking Mont-Blanc and its glaciers. Grand-Saint-Bernard, through the Valais, the Simplon, Borromeo islands, Turin, up to Grenoble.La traduction anglaise contient 16 lettres dont celles concernant le Grand-St-Bernard, l’Italie du Nord, Chamouny et le Mont-Blanc.
