The production of private portraits grew throughout the Georgian and Regency periods and took on several forms: miniatures worn as jewellery, pastels and drawings either framed or kept in albums for private viewing. All are shown here, many by well-known artists of the period, such as Gainsborough, Ramsay, Wilkie and Lawrence.‎
