‎Summary This volume presents the proceedings of the conference 'Ministerium Sermonis. An International Colloquium on St. Augustine's Sermons' (8-10 December 2021). The nineteen articles collected here focus on the transmission, critical edition, interpretation, and reception of Latin Patristic sermons, and particularly the sermons of the African Church Father Augustine of Hippo. By combining philological, exegetical, theological, rhetorical, and historical approaches, this volume aims to demonstrate the value of these sermons as a key source for understanding the Early Christian Church. The volume forms a sequel to the proceedings of the previous three Ministerium Sermonis conferences (Leuven-Turnhout 2008, Rome 2011, Malta 2015), which have also been published in the series Instrumenta Patristica et Mediaeualia (subseries Ministerium Sermonis I, II, III). ‎Summary En 1994, Fran ois-Joseph Leroy publiait vingt-deux sermons in dits, qu'il attribua un contemporain d'Augustin et dans lesquels il vit une collection, non apolog tique et non pol mique, de textes donatistes. C' tait l une d couverte exceptionnelle. Pourtant, depuis l' dition provisoire de Leroy, la recherche ne s'est gu re pench e sur ce corpus. ‎Summary In 1990, in a 15th century manuscript kept in the Stadtbibliothek in Mainz, Fran ois Dolbeau recognized a series of authentic Augustine sermons, some completely unknown until then, others known in brief versions. Five years of work were then necessary for their discoverer to establish the editio princeps, which was published in 1996 in the Collection des tudes Augustiniennes : Vingt-six sermons au peuple d'Afrique. This fourth and last volume of the Sermones Dolbeau is devoted to Sermons 26 to 32. A motivated team of specialists offers here a revised Latin text, an unpublished French translation, an introduction specific to each sermon as well as numerous footnotes and additional notes. ‎Summary This volume contains the proceedings of the international conference on anonymous sermons, funded by the F.R.S.-FNRS and held on 16 May 2019 at the Universit de Namur (Belgium), within the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and the research centre Pratiques M di vales de l' crit (PraME). It brings together scholars working on late antique and early medieval Latin preaching, and follows on previous volumes on Augustine and African sermons published in the Ministerium Sermonis subseries. The focus here is on Christian Latin preached texts, thought to date from the period c. 300-800 AD, which are not currently attributed to a known author. Long neglected because of their uncertain attribution, these sermons offer new material for the study of late antique and early medieval Christianity. The contributions assembled here provide an essential entry point to the study of these little-known sermons: after an introduction which sets the aims of the book, discusses the state of the art and describes main avenues for research, individual papers present future tools to classify sermons and explore their medieval transmission in manuscripts, offer new critical editions of previously unknown sermons, and develop methods and reliable criteria to shed new light on their historical context of composition. Both engaging with current issues and challenges and offering innovative case studies, this book opens up new ground for future research on late antique and early medieval Latin Christian preaching in general.
